Carmela Osorio Lugo is a Venezuelan-born designer who studied fashion design and marketing at Savannah College of Art and Design. While at school she worked for Ralph Lauren, Elie Tahari and DKNY. She won the CFDA Liz Claiborne Award in 2014 beating out hundreds of students and used her winnings to create her senior collection. After graduating, she created an extension of her senior collection that is currently being sold online and in boutiques across New York and South America with the help of press from Vogue, Elle and Women's Wear Daily. With the help of Kyra Webb, a born and raised New Yorker who also graduated from SCAD, they launched the label CARMELÁ in 2015. Carmelá is currently working at Calvin Klein Jeans. She wants to expand her knowledge in the business before launching a new collection.
